Back in the olden days the term housewife had a very specific definition.
It involved cooking.
It involved cleaning.
It involved taking care of the husband.
But then something happened called World War II, and the women went to work outside of the home.
These women eventually decided they liked working outside of the home. They said to themselves "Hey, I'm going to keep my job." And they did.
Wait. How did that picture get in there?
And with the change in the roles that the women played in the world, so changed the definition regarding the term housewife. Sure some definitions still include cooking, cleaning and taking care of the husband. But is that all that there is to it? I don't think so. For now, we women are a more complicated bunch. And to define housewives so simply would be to ignore the depths of all that we now offer.
Here at the Real Housewives of Oklahoma we will be exploring those depths. And for this week's MckLinky Monday we would like to ask you,
"What is a Housewife?"
1. Answer the question on your blog (or in the comments section if you haven't a blog).
2. If you answer on the question on your blog, add your name to MckLinky so that we all can discover the brilliance that is your mind.
4. Enjoy and have some fun!
No, not that kind of fun.
Oh, OK. If you must.
I find that it always enhances my writing.
