So last week I took myself to see Easy A. It was a funny little movie starring Emma Stone (adorable), Thomas Haden Church (hilarious), Patricia Clarkson (really hilarious), and Stanley Tucci (oddly sexy in this movie--What can I say? I have a weakness for a funny guy.). I was not expecting to like this movie as, well, I thought it was going to be another bad teen movie. The only real reason I went is because I had seen everything else showing, it had gotten good reviews, and I was really, really really in need of some movie popcorn.
I was so happy to be pleasantly surprised by this film. The characters were charming and well developed, the parents were not cast as stupid nimrods, and there was this fabulous homage to John Hughes using a sexy little actor named Penn Badgley in which he stood outside of the main character's window with a radio over his head standing on top of a riding lawn mower. Trust me ladies, yum-diddy-yum, yum, yum.
But perhaps I'm a little biased. You see I'm a teen of the 80's. And in the 80's we had John Hughes, the god himself of teen aged angst movies. And for someone like me, you can't replace the Ferris Bueller's Day Off, or the Pretty in Pinks, or the Some Kind of Wonderful's of the movie world. You can't. John Hughes movies were the best, and they are very hard to replace.
And now that I'm feeling all sentimental for my youth and the great John Hughes movies that came with it, I arrive at our MckLinky Monday question of the week.
What is your favorite John Hughes movie and why?
There are so many good one's; I know it's going to be hard to pick. But still I can't wait to see your answers and weigh in. Have fun!
