The Big Cheese!

How many of you went to a super bowl party Sunday or had one at your house? Did you eat some nice, fattening food? Partake of the bottle?

I am not a NFL fan. Those guys just get paid way too much money and they're so big they can make it down the field in three plays. I just don't find it as entertaining as say, THIS....

Or especially THIS...

But, I'm all about a party. And, after being snowed in with just my family this past week, I was more than ready for adult interaction. And, food. And, drinks. And, the super bowl commercials. And, food. Oh, yeah, I already mentioned that.

We got together over at my BFF's house with her family. My brother and his family also came over.  The funny thing is, is not one of us had a preference on who we wanted to win. So we decided that part of us would cheer for one team, and the rest for the other team. Oh, don't hate now. It just doesn't look good on you.

I decided to cheer for the Pittsburgh Packers. What?! No, you didn't misunderstand me. It has a nice ring to it, dontcha think?! ::snicker::

We all reserved the right to change who we cheered for once we saw who won. Do you know how much fun a super bowl party is when you don't care who actually wins? It's fun with a big, fat capital F!

But, I'll be honest. I did sort of want the Packers to win with a score of 27-24. Why, you ask? Because I entered a little contest with our local Italian place to win dinner for two for whomever got the closest game prediction. Lo and behold, I won that contest! Uh, huh! Oh, yeah! Shake yer booty!

I'm feeling very lucky lately. I have won numerous giveaways on blogs and Facebook. I just won another one here for giving a picture a caption. In the past two months I've won a Pillow Pet, Kidz Bop CD, A Buffy's Bear FriendChef Michael Chiarello´s new cookbook and Panko Bread Crumbs, Pappy's Jalapeno Pepper Spread (I've won this TWICE on their Facebook page. Each time it also came with a t-shirt.)

I'm pretty sure I'm even leaving something out, but you get the picture. I've decided that maybe it's time that I start playing the lottery. Or, at the very least, charge people to rub up against my shoulder.

Okay, I got a little side-tracked. That happens when I start talking about ME!

As a parting gift, I'll leave you with a great recipe that I made for the party. It's a recipe by a fellow Okie, Trisha Yearwood.

 Hot Corn Dip

2 11-ounce cans Mexican corn, drained
2 4½-ounce cans chopped green chilies, drained (I only used one 4.5 oz can)
2 cups grated Monterrey Jack cheese (about 8 ounces)
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
Corn chips, for dipping
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 × 13 × 2-inch casserole dish.
In a medium bowl, mix the corn, chilies, cheeses, and mayonnaise until fully combined. Spread the mixture in the prepared casse¬role dish and bake, uncovered, for 30 to 40 minutes, or until bubbly around the edges. Serve the dip warm from the oven with corn chips.

I'd love to hear about what you did for the super bowl. And, if you made something delicious, be sure and share the recipe!
