I have posted before about a weight-loss challenge I was a part of a couple of summers ago. I worked my tail off for that challenge and was quite happy with my end results. But, being fit isn't about a challenge. It's about making a life change. It's about making exercise part of your routine, just like brushing your teeth or taking your vitamins. Priorities. Wow! I struggle with priorities and not just with healthy living, but with most things. Is that being real or what?! How about you? Are you good with prioritizing your day, your life?
This past week I have decided to make the decision to be more healthy. I'm not going to go freaky crazy obsessed, but I am trying to make a conscious effort. I want to look like my "after" picture again. What brought this on? A couple of things, actually. My clothes are getting too tight and uncomfortable. Anyone know what I'm talking about? FAT HURTS! And, last Sunday I came across a picture on Pinterest that made me think, "I can do that!"
I wanted to show you the picture so maybe it will be motivation for you as well, if you need it.
Pretty amazing results, huh?! I believe they are real results because if they weren't the stretch marks would have been photoshopped out. I bet this girl has no idea how many lives she may change for being so real and posting her pictures. How did she do it? She did Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred.
I happen to own that DVD. I think I owned it for a couple of months before I ever opened it and even when I finally did open it, I think I only did about a weeks' worth. But, seeing this picture made me dig that DVD back out and give it another go. Last Monday morning I got up and took a picture of myself in my sports bra and panties. GAG! How could have I let myself get back to this point over the past two years? No, I'm not posting the picture. I'm too modest for that, but I will have a different before picture and after picture hopefully to share with you. I'm also hoping by publicly saying I've committed to getting fit will actually force me to stick with it! How many times have I have tried and failed?
I started day 1 last Monday. Before the 20 minute segment was even over, my muscles felt like noodles. By morning I was hurting all over, yet I still managed to get day 2 finished. Well, sort of. I didn't use the weights that day because I'm certain I would have hurt myself. ;) I had to skip two days because I had a thyroid biopsy, but did day 3 on Friday. I'm already figuring out that I am not going to finish the 30 Day Shred in exactly 30 days, but that's okay. I'm doing waaay more than I was doing. I have worked out 4 out of 6 days. I'm GOOD with that.
My friend, Jenn, even encouraged me to go to Zumba with her today. I have attended Zumba classes before, but it had been a long time. I actually lasted the full hour without collapsing! Zumba is all the rage, it seems. It's sort of a Latin inspired dance, if you aren't familiar. Have you been to Zumba? Do you like it?
The following are a few inspirational quotes I found on Pinterest. Maybe they will be inspiring to you as well.
I also found this guide for helping those at home get started. PRINT IT!
What do you think? Did seeing the pictures above stir something inside you to get moving? Do you already do some sort of exercise regimen? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
